Although not pretty, these P-38s tell a tail of history. Made by Polish slave labor who were not interested in making nice looking pistols. These late war Spreewerk P-38s normally show signs of rough craftsmanship and a dull military finish and this one fills the bill. Typical late war “CYQ” Spreewerk P-38, Serial # a7095, manufactured c. Spreewerk produced a number of important weapons and components before and during WW2 including 280,880 of the Walther designed P-38 pistol, which was the standard service pistol of the German Heer (Army) and the famous 88 Flak/ anti-tank gun. Metallwarenfabrik Spreewerk GmbH was a German weapons manufacturing company with factories in Spandau, Germany and Grottau, Czechoslovakia.

The P-38 was manufactured by three Germany companies, Walther (AC), Mauser (BYF) & Speewerk (CYQ).
