Making the game unlock the Diamond the regular way seems like the safer option so just in case I'll insert 499 challenges and try to complete the last one on my own. You could either test it and see or remove one of the challenges and do it in-game instead. Also, I don't know if the Diamond will be unlocked automatically when you insert 500 challenges.
